On Thursday, May 9th at 10:30am is the Seniors Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar Clinic. It is held in the Mapleton City Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Luncheon
The Senior Luncheon social is on Thursday, May 9th, at 11:30am and is held in the same location as the Clinic. We are having a salad bar. Please bring a salad, a dessert or donate $2 if you are coming to the luncheon. Following the luncheon, the Springville High School Orchestra will play for us. They play classical and bluegrass music. It will be very entertaining, so join us please.

Gym
The gym will be closed on Monday, May 27th for Memorial Day. The gym’s evening hours will close starting May 20th and the Saturday hours will close starting May 18th for the summer months.
A big “Thank You” to everyone who helped support the senior’s Humanitarian Yard & Bake Sale, and who helped in any way. Thanks again!

He is going to show us how to use the defibrillator properly in case of an emergency. It should be beneficial to us all. Please join us for this could help save someone’s life.

Gym – On Saturday, March 23rd from 9am-10am Dennis Tolley will be doing training of the gym equipment for all volunteers and patrons. Please RSVP to Peggy Burt at 801-489-4363 or Bill Bleggi at 801-489-0319 if you can attend.

Humanitarian Yard & Bake Sale – It’s that time of year again! Time to start cleaning out your closets and homes to bring your donations to the Mapleton City Center’s Multi-Purpose Room on Friday, April 19th from 9am-7pm. Please no large furniture or appliances. Saturday, April 20th will be the day to buy all the treasures you have been seeking from 8am to 1pm. Cash only please! We are asking the community to please help us with the bake goods again this year. If you can help, please bake cupcakes, cookies, fudge, candy or brownies and bring them to the Mapleton City Center’s Multi-Purpose Room on Saturday, April 20th at 8am. Thank you very much for your support.

Last year the money was given to Hobble Creek and Mapleton Elementary Schools. Principal Michael Johnson of Hobble Creek Elementary used the $519 for gift cards for groceries and Christmas for the less fortunate families of Mapleton. Principal Celeste Gledhill of Mapleton Elementary used the $519 for a pair of eyeglasses, several pairs of shoes, several coats, sub-for-santa and some medical expenses that were much needed. Thanks so much for everyone’s support that helped make this possible for the less fortunate families of our community.

Senior Luncheon
The luncheon will be on Thursday, February 14th at 11:30am in the same location as the clinic. Lasagna will be the main dish that will be provided. If you are coming please bring a salad, a dessert or donate $2. Our guest speaker will be Mayor Wall. He will answer questions that we may have. Please write down your questions and give them to Mary Denna 801-472-1491 or Stacey Child at the Parks and Recreation Office as soon as possible so the Mayor will be better prepared for the time he has.

Gym
Closed on Monday, February 18th for Presidents’ Day.

The Blood Pressure / Blood Sugar Clinic will be held on Thursday January 10, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Mapleton City Center’s Multi-Purpose Room.

Luncheon Social

Our Luncheon Social will also be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the same location as the Clinic. Stew will be provided. Please bring a salad, a dessert, or donate $2 if you plan on coming to the luncheon. Please call the City Office at 801-489-5655 extension “0″ to let us know how many people will be there. After the Luncheon we will have Stephanie O’Brien as our guest speaker. She will give us some good advice on “Estate Planning.” Hope to see you there.

Gym

The gym will be closed all day on December 31st, January 1st and January 21st.

Yoga

Starting again on Thursday, January 3, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.

Winter Wonderland Ball

The Ball will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2013 in the Multi-Purpose Room of Mapleton’s City Center. It starts at 8:00 p.m. and will end at 11:00 p.m. Anyone who is 14 years of age or older and likes to dance, this is the dance for you! Come and enjoy a good night of dancing, wonderful music and yummy refreshments. Mississippi Mud will be the band playing music of the 40′s and 50′s. Please wear BEST DRESS. Donations will be welcomed at the door.

A Blood Pressure/Blood Sugar Clinic will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, June 14th in the Mapleton City Center Multi-Purpose Room.

 Luncheon

The Senior Luncheon Social will be held on Thursday, June 14th, at 11:30am at the same location as the clinic. Barbecue Pork will be provided. Please bring a salad, dessert or donate $2 if you are coming to the luncheon. Call the City Office at 801-489-5655 ext. 0 so we can get a count for the main dish.

Our guest speaker will be Patti Richards. She will talk about her rescue of animals. She works with “Great Basin Wildlife Resources”.

 Computers

If anyone has a 2005 or newer computer they would like to donate please call Sallie Korman at 801-489-8593. Sallie is in the computer room on Wednesdays from 10am-12pm to offer basic help on the computers.

 Gym

If you are a current resident of Mapleton who is 50 years or age or older, you may come and enjoy the wonderful equipment that we have in the basement of the Mapleton City Center. Tours are offered of the gym by manager Peggy Burt by calling her at 801-489-4363, or her assistant Bill Bleggi at 801-489-0319. The gym will be closed on Saturdays for the summer starting in June.
